The Black Bull - Fenland

We stopped by this welcoming and friendly pub on our way back from Colchester. I enjoyed a glass of wine while my partner had a coffee.

Rosie the landlady friendly, tables very clean, beer ok, locals chatty, only had one drink and had to go. Place could do with a makeover. Toilets need attention.

I spent this morning back and forth on the phone to the bank and searching for the Management group who own these sites. The Black Bull had popped up a number of times on my bank statement and I've never been to Peterborough. Turns out I had been in another of Stonegate Groups pubs in Worthing on the south coast called The Rose Crown but the card payments I'd made show as this site which is part of the same group. A bit confusing at first but not fraudulent so don't cancel your card like I nearly did :

I stopped by for a game of pool while staying at the Dog in a Doublet nearby. I had a great time chatting with the staff and enjoyed the 95p pints of Doom ale before lockdown.

I visited this pub purely because i had won a competition for some free drinks there but came away feeling we had found a hidden gem that we will definitely return to! From the start the 2 ladies serving were friendly and chatty and really made us feel welcome and at home. They fully complied with the new covid rules yet still managed to maintain a normal feel to the pub. Really nice place and customer service. Loved it
