Dogwood Tavern - Falls Church

I recently started going to Dogwood Tavern after the Dogfish Head in Falls Church closed. I was looking for a low key brew pub with a good beer selection, friendly staff and good burgers. The owner has done a great job keeping Dogwood Tavern warm and inviting. The staff is friendly, the beer selection is good and the food is decent. My son loves the burgers and waffle fries. I visited on a Monday evening on my way back home after remembering how I enjoyed their sister restaurant Bear Branch Tavern. Parking can be challenging in this area, so walking a block or so can be expected. The inside struck me as quite dark even for a tavern (one person next to me had to use his phone light to read the menu). The barkeep greeted me promptly and was largely attentive. We met friends for an early dinner. The food was good as well as the on tap beverages. I had a cider that was delicious and ordered two appetizers from the seafood specials; one was clams and the other mussels. Both were good. My wife had a craft beer and fish tacos. She enjoyed both. It wasn't too crowded when we arrived, which made it a good meeting place for conversation.

I really enjoy this restaurant. Their Huevos Rancheros for brunch are the best I've ever had. The food is delicious and the service is incredibly fast. There are several outdoor seating areas, even more than indoor seating. Inside, there is a long bar with a wide selection of beers on tap. Make sure to say hi to the fantastic bartender, Amber. She's a lot of fun.

The Cajun pasta was superb, rating it 5 out of 5. The salmon dish was decent, scoring 3.75 out of 5. The strawberry shortcake was average, comparable to something you might find at a food court, earning a rating of 3 out of 5. The portions were decent but not overly generous. Prices were slightly on the higher side, but still reasonable.
