Contribuiți la feedbackMama Chang is phenomenal! It‘s our favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. Some of our favorite dishes include the fresh chili flounder with cumin, lychee pepper chicken, pork dumplings, pork and shrimp spring rolls. You can’t go wrong here.
Mama Chang is a Chinese restaurant in Fairfax, Virginia that is owned by acclaimed chef Peter Chang. The restaurant offers a casual dining experience with a menu that focuses on homestyle Chinese dishes.Mama Chang's menu features a wide variety of dishes, many of which are quite spicy. If you are not used to spicy food, be sure to ask your server for recommendations. We enjoyed everything we ordered, but our favorites were the Peking duck, soup dumplings, and crispy pork. The service at Mama Chang is fast and efficient. However, due to the restaurant's popularity, the wait staff can sometimes seem a bit overwhelmed. Most of the time there is a line, so be prepared to wait if you have a large party. Parking can be a bit tricky at first, but there is plenty of parking available in the back of the restaurant. However, it is important to note that the prices are not exactly cheap. We spent around $50 per person for our meal, which is more than we would typically spend at a Chinese restaurant.
Delicious and spicy food. I love the numbing flavor of some dishes. Had dry fried cauliflower, cumin lamb skewers, fried rice, and hot and numbing beef pot. I have attached the pictures of the cauliflower and lamb dish. Good stuff!
There aren’t many good Chinese restaurants in DMV and I would say Mama Chang is one of the best ones in the region. Dishes are a bit pricy but the portion size is big and they are supposed to be shared. I tried their sessional Tomato Beef Brisket Casserole and the Pork Belly and both are delicious. I find the AC was a bit too strong so I was pretty cold while eating but overall I had a good time.
I ordered my favorite dishes from my previous visit, which included eggplant with garlic sauce, combo fried rice, beef tendon rolls, mama lo mein, and bubble pancakes (make sure to ask for extra curry sauce!). I also tried some new items this time: crispy pork belly, cumin lamb skewers, string beans, lychee pepper chicken, and orange chicken. While I enjoyed all the new dishes, my favorites turned out to be the crispy pork belly, lychee pepper chicken, and lamb skewers! Don’t forget to ask for chili oil, as it pairs perfectly with many of their dishes. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their menu, especially their dim sum! I won’t hesitate to request Crystal as my server again! :D
