Friar Tuck's Hoagie House - Fairbanks

The food was incredible, and the server was both friendly and attentive. It's the best meal I've had in Fairbanks! I ordered the wings, a po' boy sandwich, and a blueberry iced tea. My only issue was with the refill for the iced tea. The attentive server offered to refill it when it was about two-thirds full, and I thought that would be nice. I didn't realize that refills weren't complimentary and ended up being charged for another drink. Given that the lemonade costs $4.25, it would have been nice to finish the last $1.50 worth of my initial drink before getting another.

In this area, giving a restaurant 5 stars doesn't necessarily imply it's extraordinary; it simply means it's better than the other options available. The main drawback of this place is its prices, which are quite high for what should be more affordable dishes. While the food does taste good, that’s largely because the alternatives around here don’t measure up. The chef salad was delicious, with a nice balance of toppings to lettuce. The Cuban sandwich was excellent, featuring just the right amount of meat and sauce, and the spicy mustard was exceptional. Overall, while I'm not convinced the prices reflect what you'd expect, at least the food is genuinely enjoyable.

We ordered the Reuben and I could happily enjoy that sandwich every single day. It was absolutely delicious. The sauce had a nice kick to it, but it wasn't overwhelming—just perfect. As east coast travelers, I can confidently say this is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. My only complaint is that we have nothing like this back home.

For this area, 5 stars doesn't mean it is out of the world. 5 stars simply means it's better than the other places. The real downfall to this place is the prices. It's so pricey for what should be cheaper. It does taste great, but again that's only because everything else in the area sucks. The chef salad was tasty and has the right amount of toppings to lettuce. The Cuban was great. It had the perfect amount of meat to sauce. The spicy mustard was out of this world. Overall, I'm not sure the price matches what you would expect, but at least the food tastes good.

A great place to have lunch. They have a great variety of sandwiches. The cheese fries are awesome. Fried pickles are a must to try.The service is great and always see smiles on the employees faces.
