It's been a while since we visited the place and I can see from a coupple of other reviews that the opening of a nearby pub has had a rather unfortunate effect on the place.
After a LONG drive, I was really looking forward to just sit down and relax with something to eat. Unfortunately, I was so hungry I ordered as soon as I got in the door. If I had sat down and listened, I would have noticed the disco music coming from the neighboring pub or whatever. While waiting for the pizza, I tried to find a table where the noise was bearable. I cold not. So I told the guy in the counter I would rather take the pizza with me and eat it in the car. Which I did. The pizza was very good actually, but I wont be coming back, because I think it`s a big joke to have tables at a restaurant where you can`t sit unless you really enjoy LOUD disco basslines with your dinner.
We stopped here on our way to Heggenes. The restaurant is quite large. we had pizza which was o.k.It runs by a family from Turkey, very friendly bunch.
I have eaten pizza in many countries and many cities but no pizza has ever beaten Aroma's delicious, heavenly pizza. It's perfect! I have been a regular customer since they opened and I can't get enough. I'd love to taste their pasta as well, but their pizza is so good I just can't not order it. The staff is super friendly too, especially the owner. I highly recommend this place to everyone. It's truly fantastic! My favorite place in town for sure!
Now I am a NY'er, so my pizza review counts. I a country that isn't known for their pizza, or rather that is known for their chain Pepe's Pizza, this place is a gem. We came in late one night to eat with our 2 4 yr old. They have an awesome indoor area for young kids to play. This is so nice when dining with kids! We could have peace while waiting for our food. This probably comes from the fact that the owner has 2 kids himself. At least I think he was the owner, if not, that is even better as the staff was great. We ordered pizza, which after a long drive was all the kids wanted. It was such a pleasant surprise to see it come out looking like a NY style pizza. The crust is what defines a NY pizza (in my opinion , and his crust was spot on. From the perfect thinness, so the hand crafted crust, to the blackened bubbles from the oven, I was just like being home. Sauces vary, even in NY, his was close. Upon talking more to him, we found out he worked for a large pizza chain (see above for 8 years. Which he didn't pick up their style thankfully!! Peppe's pizza is like dominos or Pizza Hut. Aroma is like NY. So he's been making pizza for 8 years and you can tell. I wish we had stayed longer and tried some of the other food. At the end of ten meal we spoke to a couple of the guys there at length (one who's english was superb! . Everyone there was so nice. They even gave our kids take away ice cream, and gave us real spoons since they had no plastic. Just asked that we bring them back the next day since we were staying at the hotel next door. Seriously, who does that? It was just so nice. Go to this place. Get the pizza. Enjoy. And repeat.
