Capt. Bob Beck’s Marina Cafe

The exterior of the building is an accurate representation of the food, garbage. We decided to give it a try just because of the high ratings (which were all left 2+ years ago). I’m convinced there isn’t 1 seasoning in that kitchen. Im not being dramatic when I say every bite of food was bland, if it wasn’t for the cocktail sauce we wouldn’t have been able to eat. Afterwards we took a walk out back to view the dock which was missing some wood planks due to storms i assume. This place would be so nice with some TLC some seasoning on the food.

Just a chill relaxed local bar. Food was typical bar food the French Onion looked amazing but very salty, and the cheesesteak and way to much sauce on it. Bartender was amazing and accommodating. JoeJac was really cool, and little nasty but what do you expect from a macaw.

Husband and I were traveling through the area. This little gem showed up with a quick Google search. I admit we turned around and left due to the exterior of the building but after reading a few reviews we went back to give it a try. As in other reviews, when you step through the door everything changes. Interior was very nice, plenty of space. View of the river is incredible. Tons of boats at the dock to check out. Oh, food and service was amazing!! I cannot remember our servers name, but she was super great!! We would definitely go again when in the area.

4/10 So much potential with the perfect location, however, neglected business! (August 2024) Pros: Cold beer, Outdoor seating, Marina access Cons: Potholes in parking lot and curb appearance need attention. Sanitation score of 86 (B) rating should scare anyone, I avoided food at all costs.(Search “Onslow county restaurant inspections” to learn more) Sticky floors are an instant turn off. Run down bathrooms need to be fully cleansed and renovated, worst in Jacksonville. The arcade/game room floors are nasty. The staff/servers here are hit or miss, very inconsistent.

Delicious food and wonderful service. Capt Bobs sister came over to see if we were well taken care of and Sara more than cared for us. Were from out of town and went with friends who are local and will definitely be back!!!
