Sidwell Fish And Chips - Exeter

Before you dive into the review, I want to mention that I've come across some negative comments regarding undercooked food. However, that has never been my experience during the many times I've visited. This place is simply fantastic. I can confidently say that the staff is always friendly. More importantly, the fish and chips, along with everything else on the menu (yes, they offer more than just fish and chips!), is consistently delicious. They also provide generous portions of seasonings!

I visited last week after an extremely busy day, and this was the only place open that served fish. I was a bit apprehensive about ordering fish from a place that also sells kebabs, but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff member who served me was very friendly, and the wait for food was short. We ordered kingfish and king chips, scattered sausage, mushy peas, and a broken cake. Yes, you read that right — a broken cake! The food was delicious, and the fish was cooked to perfection. The only critique I have is that the chips could have been a bit larger, especially given the "king" portion name. Overall, I felt comfortable here and will definitely be returning. I highly recommend this place!

I was initially hesitant to try this restaurant after reading the reviews, but its convenient location drew me in, especially after experiencing several overrated places nearby. To my surprise, the service was fast and friendly. The portion of cod was quite substantial (you probably won't finish it), and the chips were decent as well. The batter could have been crispier and was occasionally a bit oily, but the cod itself was firm and flavorful. All of this for just £7.50. They also serve a delicious homemade garlic sauce and chili.

Beautiful takeaway chips, beautiful kebab and beautiful service. The men were really nice and very friendly. Both my partner and I would think for a cheeky evening snack!

AWFUL! I had food poisoning and so did my son! I new the fish was not cooked so I stoped although my son didn’t… I feel so unwell! I hope this place gets shut down asap! Never again don’t go!!
