Contribuiți la feedbackI spend about 10 days in Portugal with a group and this place was almost a unanimity: best place we ate at the entire trip. The place is a hidden gem, food is excellent, service with a local flavor.
We ate here on a Sunday as many other places were closed and it was near our accommodation. The young lady serving us was very nice. The table was laid with proper linen table cloths and napkins and the food was excellent. The wine was good too. Our reason for only 4 stats was that it was on the expensive side compared to other similar restaurants e.g. bottle of water was €5. Other than that it was most enjoyable.
Luar de Janeiro is a small, lovely restaurant serving delicious Portuguese food. Our starters included mushrooms, tomato salad, rabbit, cheese and olives all delicious! The service was excellent.
On our first day of the trip, we enjoyed exploring the town of Evora. After walking around, we were ready to have lunch. We found this restaurant, Luar Janeiro. We were lucky to find a table that was free. We had the Lamb stew and Braised Pork Cheeks. Both dishes were amazing. At the end of the meal, I asked the server to send our compliments to the Chef and he said it was his mother. Amazing! That’s why the food felt hearty. If you are in this town, I suggest you check out this restaurant you will not be disappointed
Awful service even worse food. Asked for water 4 times before we finally got a bottle. The pork smelt like fish so we questioned was it fried in the same pan as fish, the answer was no so basically the pork smelt bad as it was rotten. The goat was burnt to the pan completely black and inedible. When we stated the food was bad with the pork smelling of fish and the goat burnt no explanation or discount was given. Would not recommend at all.
