Ray's Drive In - Everett

This place is right down the street from my work and I have been trying new places in the area lately. First off, great quality food. The reason I give it 3/5 stars is I paid $11.00 for the fish and chips meal, and the amount of food in the basket didn’t even fill the whole basket.. they could’ve at least added another fillet or more fries. On top of all that I only was given a single tarter sauce and it’s not enough for all 4 fillets that they give you.

I don’t see the legendary status that people give this place. Fries didn’t taste fresh. Burger patty was very dry and thin. Fish sandwich was good. Fried mushrooms were good. Fried chicken sandwich was okay. I just don’t see how it’s the best burger in Everett (according to many claims). Oh well!

Was super excited to try their fish n chips and double double burgers, but my husband and I ended up getting super disappointed. We paid $39 for soggy fries with some of them clearly not fully cooked since the middle of the fries when you bite them are still are hard and super raw. The fry tasted like it was deep fried in old or re-used cooking oil. Also, the fish n chips are super dry, as dry as the Sahara Desert we ended up removing the batter and gave the fish to the cats!! RUN and take your money somewhere else!

On the other hand, the fish and chips, which they claim are the best around, were quite good. I read other reviews and agree that one serving of tartar sauce isn’t enough, especially since they serve fries too, so we ended up ordering an extra. The fish was very crispy and flavorful, while the fries were a mix of crispy and soggy. I’d likely return and order the fish and chips again, and perhaps try the chicken instead of the burger next time. Given the type of establishment it is, I got what I expected and felt the prices were fair.

We make a monthly pilgrimage to Ray's Drive-In for their fish and chips. Good fish and chips start with good fish. Ray understands. They serve comminuted fillets with frits of freshly cut potatoes. This quality is not cheap. Fortunately, the portions are so large that we save 2 pieces of fish and buy an additional tartaric acid sauce so that we can have fish sandwiches the next day. Ray's also serves burgers. The fish is so good I never tried to try anything else. The staff is friendly and efficient with lines of cars drive through and people go up. If you love fish and chips, you'll love Rays Drive-In.
