Contribuiți la feedbackI recently visited a cozy pub that I chose specifically for its comfort food offerings. Accompanied by my charming dining companion, we were both in search of a relaxed meal. Though we’re related, this isn’t Alabama, and I might still have marriage on the horizon—somewhere. The restaurant is a delightful little spot that captures that gastro pub vibe perfectly. I was in the mood for comfort food, and I have to say, it truly delivered. The cheese pizza was surprisingly good, with a thin crust reminiscent of New York style. While I wouldn’t place it in the same category as the Big Apple’s best, it was certainly a solid offering for Connecticut. The pizza was crispy, cheesy, and topped with a flavorful sauce. The Spicy T-Rex wings were out of this world! They were made with homemade sauces, not straight from a bottle, which made a significant difference. Huge, tasty, and perfectly crispy, they were a delight—though I think they could have used some ranch dressing on the side. Interestingly, although the menu leans toward Italian cuisine, the sign indicates it’s a bar and grill. It’s worth mentioning because the eggplant parmesan didn’t quite measure up to expectations. While it wasn’t bad, we both felt the sauce (which was different from the pizza) was rather ordinary. My companion, who is quite knowledgeable about food (albeit a bit picky), noted that the eggplant itself was sliced too thin, resulting in a lack of texture and flavor. The pasta was slightly overcooked for my liking, but I was willing to overlook that. Now, the burger—oh, the burger! Tucked away at the end of a lengthy menu, I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, it turned out to be comforting and satisfying. The patty, though possibly a gourmet frozen variety, was cooked to perfection. It was topped with melted cheese and three slices of crispy bacon, all nestled in a fresh brioche bun. What more could one want? The onion rings, however, were likely frozen and not worth mentioning. Our server was fantastic—quick, attentive, friendly, and easy on the eyes (at least from my perspective). Overall, I would definitely return for the pizza and the wings (they even have a separate menu for them, which is a good sign). I’d happily have the burger again as well. As for the pasta dishes, I’d recommend skipping the marinara and opting for mac and cheese or alfredo instead.
