It was stacked high and so delicate, but cool. It wasn't cold, but hardly warm. The same applies to the baked beans and the German potato salad. Flavor was as usual. We came only a few minutes before they closed the buffet [7 o'clock], so we missed it. We didn't order a dessert, but a piece of cake was $4.99 per serving. Will definitely go back. Again, we did NOT arrive at a first time and only 5 or 6 tables were used while we were there. I am sure that food would be closer to regular hours and not so close to closing time
Going to Wolfs BBQ has always been a kind of tradition with generations of our family for special occasions or just because we were not there in a while! They use their own special tomato-based sauce, which has long been a family secret with them. It's been a tri-state hit for many years. Their secondary dishes are excellent as well as their homemade cakes.
Always friendly staff and delicious food. Best coconut cream cake in Evansville! We usually get the pig pit, the sauce on the side and the potato salad.
I have really mixed feelings about Wolfs. My friends and I all worked here as teenagers, and had such mixed experiences with management and too much exposure to their food, that it was my view of their food. After all these years, I finally come to realize that they actually have some of the best BBQ in the city, excluding all other things.
Fantastic ribs that slip off the bone and mac n cheese that'll stick like glue to your stomach. The mashed potatoes and gravy were fluffy and incredibly creamy. The skin on the smoked chicken was a hair tough but the delicious meat within more than made up for it. The buffet is an absolute delight even if a bit pricey! Absolutely worth the drive if you're in the area.
