Da Jerk Pit/claire's Korner - Evanston

I've been a customer at Claire's since she opened her restaurant years ago, and I've never had a bad meal there. The food is always exceptional. Be sure to try the homemade Pineapple Ginger Juice—it's delicious!

This is a fantastic little place for Jamaican cuisine! The chicken was cooked to perfection—juicy and tender. The rice was flavorful, and the cabbage side was excellent as well. My only issue was that my stomach wasn't big enough to finish everything! The staff was friendly and informed me that the chicken might take about 15 minutes, in case I was in a rush. I didn’t mind the wait at all, and I'm so glad I chose to wait—it was definitely worth it.

The oxtails here are the best I’ve ever had—so tender and juicy! The mac and cheese complemented the oxtails perfectly. A true chef’s kiss!

Moved to downtown Chicago from NY a couple months ago and passed the Da Jerk Pit location during a trip to Sam’s Club. Happened to be in this neighborhood again and realized Da Jerk Pit relocated to Claire’s Korner. I can finally say I finally found some outstanding Jamaican food. It’s worth the price and the drive. We got the oxtail with oxtail gravy over rice and peas side of mac and cheese. As well as 1/4 jerk chicken with oxtail gravy over rice and peas side of cabbage. Oh, and a beef patty! The flavors exceeded my expectations. We will certainly be back.

Very small space serving Tasty Jamaican Specialities. Tender jerked chicken w Good spice. Fried Plantains and rice and peas were tasty as well. No dine in w limited ordering area. Street parking nearby. Give it a try!
