Contribuiți la feedbackThe veggie macho burrito was really good. There are paprika, onions, beans, rice, salad, tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole. Only complaints are small: one of my bites in the Burrito I got a huge piece of onion that would definitely have cut smaller than the rest. There were not many tomatoes on the top (pretty typical, most restaurants skimp on tomatoes, see my picture). I would also have loved more guacamole because I ran out in front of my burrito, but this is also common in restaurants (except Chipotle). Chips and salsa were pretty good. Chips were crispy. I didn't find any chips and salsa that really wore me like Fiesta Ranchera, Chevy or Chipotle. I should also mention that Gonzales has a taco-day deal, but when my colleagues called and asked if the tacos could have beans instead of meat for vegetarians, they said no. We thought that was really unusual. This is the first Mexican restaurant I've ever had that didn't want to replace beans for meat. Beans are cheaper, they would save money. I guess this is the one area Ritas shine over the other local Mexican restaurants: they offer many vegetarian options, including the easiest offer that all restaurants should be do-vegetarian beans (no Lard). If these little things were fixed and they also offered vegetarian beans, this would be a five star rating for here.
Just tried Gonzales for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it! Carnitas were amazing and I love ed their rice which is usually the last thing I like at a Mexican rest. Wife had Carne Asada burrito it too had great flavor! Will be back to try the Molcajete.
BEST Mexican food in Eureka! Pass up Rita's literally and figuratively for great service and EXCELLENT food. Don't forget dessert the flan was probably the best I have ever had anywhere.
The carnitas are soooo good! I agree with the other reviewers- best mexican food in humboldt! Nice atmosphere and quick service, and reasonable prices! One of my favorite places to eat. Thank you!
My wife and I stopped by Gonzalez's after discovering that Ritas, the Mexican restaurant across the street, was unexpectedly closed. I'm so glad we did! The staff who welcomed us seemed to be part of the family that owns the restaurant, and they were incredibly friendly and attentive. They were also very accommodating when we needed to adjust our food choices to meet our dietary requirements. The food was delicious and plentiful. We arrived for breakfast right as they opened, and I ordered the Machaca plate, which was fantastic. Their salsas and homemade corn tortillas were excellent as well. It's clear that the owners take great care of their restaurant and their customers, which really matters. If we find ourselves back in Eureka, we'll definitely return!
