Restaurante Caracas - Estarreja

Local restaurant. food homemade had a lovely soup, then chicken egg chips , also a tasty fish dish. Not very cozy inside, when it's December. A little expensive when on a budget. Friendly staff, even thou I asked for ketchup to go with my chips, and never got any.

Welcoming but completely deserted on two visits there is little choice in this town. Mixed grilled meat was OK but over salted, and vegetables overcooked.

This fairly typical Portuguese restaurant is a good bet for a meal in Estarraja. There was a good choice of dishes, huge portions (as usual in this country), and the food was both tasty and well cooked. I particularly enjoyed the black sausage, and other meat dishes, but friends with me said that the fish was good too. House wine was fine, and the bill surprisingly low. Two small warnings: the owner is very chatty which is fine if you like a talk through your meal, and beware his home made spirit, offered after the meal it was firewater!
