Windward Grille - Essex

I visited the restaurant yesterday with some friends, and we all ordered either squid or grilled salmon. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Our waitress was friendly and confident when we requested separate checks. My partner and I have always dined at Windward and have never been disappointed. The food and service are excellent—what more could you ask for? I highly recommend Windward Restaurant.

I have consistently enjoyed excellent meals every time I've visited during the summertime, which is quite frequent. My hospitable friends always recommend this place to us. The family that owns it is wonderful!

The dish included cold beans, overcooked potatoes, and sirloin, all priced at $24.

I visited the restaurant on New Year’s Eve around 5 PM and sat at a high-top table in the bar area. I ordered their grill plate, which included steak tips, chicken breast, and two Italian sausages, accompanied by white rice with peppers and onion slices. Unfortunately, the sausages were overcooked to the point of being inedible, and the chicken was rock hard and very dry. The steak tips were acceptable, but there were only two small pieces. I took a couple of bites of the sausages but couldn’t eat them, and the chicken had no flavor. After I finished my meal, the waitress checked in and asked if I wanted to take the food home. I explained my issues with the meal and declined. She returned with the check, and to my surprise, there was no discount; I was charged full price, and neither the manager nor the owner came to speak with me. I absolutely wouldn’t eat there again.

The Windward Grille is a highly popular seafood restaurant, and in my opinion, they serve very high-quality seafood. The decor features numerous paintings, contributing to a vibrant atmosphere. I've found their seafood to be consistently good, especially the tuna, hearty fish, and lobster, which I highly recommend. However, I would advise against trying their meat dishes; they're not terrible, but they don't seem to be their specialty.
