Canyon Grille - Escondido

The food is okay, but it’s not bad either. Price is okay considering hotel style pricing

Lawrence welk offers amazing accommodations. The rentals are beautiful and the pools and slides are top notch. When planning our nice dinner we went to Canyon Grille. My family dressed up ready to have an amazing meal. When we walked in, the restaurant stank of human waste. We sat down and I could barely hold my breath. We had to leave immediately. When paying the money we did to stay here and are.limited to one place for a nice dinner, I 'm shocked that this is what we get! Absolutely disgusting and I should call the county to shut this place down. For a high end golf resort this is absolutely pathetic. An absolute abysmal excuse of a restaurant. Takes the entire Lawrence Welk experience down a few notches. When booking your rooms make sure you bring some microwave meals for dinner

The resort is so beautiful and this is the only restaurant on the property…. You think it would be good but it’s not even mediocre. The restaurant itself looks dated and old but the worst part is the smell!! It smells dirty!!! So we asked to dine outside. The patio isnt great either though…. Very underwhelming for such a nice property. The menu looks ok. Not a huge variety so you’d think they could get it right….but every meal we had there didn’t look fresh at all!! The chicken in every dish looks like they prepare it ahead of time and reheat it, the dressings are obviously from a bottle…and not good at all. And to top it all off just as I was finishing my salad, I found a dead pincher bug in it!!

Over an hour to finally get our food. We got there at 5:30 so we could eat before the 7 pm show. Food arrived at the table at 6:40. We had time to box the food, get it back to the room, and get back to the theatre, only missing the 1st song. We are now microwaving a burger and risotto because we are starving. Far from a good 1st impression.

We both ordered filet mignon, mine medium rare my wife's well done. Mine came out closer to medium well, and both were smothered in gravy to hide the poor quality. The steak was also thinly sliced into half inch thick cuts. Mashed potatoes were almost certainly instant powder mix. Cheesecake was mediocre at best and my gin and tonic was fairly heavy on the tonic. If you have taste buds look elsewhere for dining.
