Restaurant L'Aromance - Épinal

We enjoyed an excellent dinner sitting outside this quite small restaurant which had a good and varied menu at a not unreasonable cost and with good friendly service

Excellent taste and inspired dishes in an friendly and relaxing atmosphere...will certainly recommend it!

This is a gem among a number of uninspiring places to eat in Epinal. The atmosphere is vibrant and the staff are attentive while being respectfully discreet. The menu is extensive and the choices we made on a menu prix fixé for €27.50 were delicious. Salmon tartare and chicken livers to start, cod in curried sauce and pork ‘steak’ in a rich sauce to follow then creme brulee and a chocolate and nut delight to finish. Definitely seek this place out if you find yourself in Epinal

We usually eat in the Ducs de Lorraine when we are in Epinal, and it is clearly the best restaurant in town, but L'Aromance was a very pleasant surprise and we will be returning. My wife chose the Euro 16 lunch menu, consisting of a shrimp and pineapple salad with avocado, tomato and pasta, followed by a soft chocolate wafer cake with apricots. Both dishes were light, beautifully presented, and excellent value. I went for a Euro 23 salad, a gigantic platter of foie gras, smoked duck, shrimp, scallops, sweetbreads, lettuce, and more besides; it was pretty impressive. My Euro 8 dessert consisted of meringue with raspberries and cream. We drank a half bottle of Sancerre and San Pellegrino, and finished with coffees. The meal cost us Euro 74 very fair! Any complaints? The roadside tables are a little cramped, but on a hot day the whole front of the restaurant opens so you can eat inside and still be in the fresh air.

Food and ambience was great in this find. Very busy for a week day which shows how good the restaurant is. Lovely setting inside too.
