Martelle's Feed House Restaurant

It may take some time to get to Martelle's, but it is worth the wait. There are not many high-quality grill restaurants in Hyde County, in fact there are not many barbecue joints of any kind in the area. Martelle's is a fantastic grill spot that would be popular in any location. The restaurant started small in 1997 and has since expanded, including the addition of an oyster bar that operates in the evenings during hunting season. The Eastern North Carolina-style barbecue is the main draw, with the pig roasted over coal only on Wednesdays. It was definitely worth the trip, even though we had limited opportunities to try it.

Best fried chicken ever! The lunch buffet was definitely worth the drive. This place doesn't look like much, but the food is awesome.

This charming little restaurant offers a buffet of delicious southern dishes. Be cautious not to overeat, as you may feel sleepy afterwards. The food is tasty and the staff are attentive. I will definitely visit again when I'm in the area.
