Cesare's is a hidden gem of a place, we were staying in the nearby johnstown estate and decided we'd try somewhere outside the hotel and I'm so glad we did. We went mid week in the evening and it was reasonably busy we'd reserved a table but we probably didn't need to (as the man on the phone even told us). There are no pizzas on the menu because you can have any pizza you want!! Alot of people we saw there went for pizzas but we went with the specials for the day. The brie and honey starter, amazing combo! Try it, it works. The gnocchi was out of this world and the carbonara my wife had, was by far the best we'd both ever tasted. I can't remember what the deserts were called but sweet and delicious, explosive flavours. I haven't reviewed anywhere in a long long time but cesare's needed to be reviewed. If your in the are it's a must. If your not, it's more than worth the journey. Another plus is its BYOB, they sell soft drinks though. Would and will definitely go back! 10/10, never change!
Good food.... incredibly overpriced! I was charged €11.50 for take away bruschetta. I've eaten in Terra Madre and Il Vicoletto (the 2 best Italian restaurants in Dublin) and not been charged €11.50 for bruschetta which was a lot better. Its disappointing because the food here is quite good and the owner is very passionate about food but there's no justification to paying €11.50 for average bruschetta. Photo attached.
Disgrace of a pizza served to us for the price. The base is way way way too think literally like carboard paper and the crusts were all birt so the crusts flaked over the plate. I dont know how you can mess up pizza they dont know how to make pizza and the ingredients they use for the sauce and toppings so cheap tasting and not even fresh mozzarella on the pizza so stingy with the toppings . We make homemade pizzas that are literally 100 times better and tastier than the pizzas sold here. Biggest waste of money in the last few years for the price they charged for a disgrace of a pizza We were staying in the nearby johnstown hotel and decided to get some food in the town but would never ever go back. I would recommend going to the pub instead accross the road. The fried brie special starter was 10 70 and got 4 tiny deep fried things that tasted frozen . Also the man serving was really trying to push us to order chips at the start too and we had to say no 3 times so glad i didnt get the chips because id say they would have been overpriced and disgusting. The man serving was fake and annoying and i will tell all my family and friends to avoid this place as its was the biggest waste of money going to it in my life and a disgrace of a restaurant. I live in Dublin and the restaurant would be burnt to the ground if it sold food like that in Dublin
The food is really high quality, the pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce was packed with flavour. The pizza was also delicious, the sauce and base are just as important to me as the toppings so it was great to get a pizza were every element was delicious. The guys running the restaurant are lovely too, nothing bad to say, we will be back.
Top spot for proper home cooked Italian food. Waiter was great, happy, friendly and informative. 100% would recommend.
