The atmosphere is lacking warmth and is not very welcoming. While a few servers are decent, most are not great. Overall, this place receives a thumbs down.
The pizza is a frozen crust with generically bad cheese. The salad was a much better option. The beer list leans towards Budweiser. The food is very overpriced for the quality. Service was good.
Got. in from the airport late and restaurant was still opened. We ordered a drink and pizza. Pizza was good. Dough seemed like the ones that are store bought but was still good. Had spinach, feta, chicken, also at least 3 different kinds of cheese. Was more than enough for both of us. They also had fresh bread pudding so took it to go and had it later. We shared as it was a very large piece. We were worried about getting a meal so late but were not disappointed.
Arrived after 7 to check in at economy hotel and the restaurant was located inside. There were a fair amount of patrons seated and the wait was normal to be seated. At first I was shown to a plush chair seating arrangement with no table and the waitress brought me menus and cutlery. I was waiting for hubby so asked for a beer. Then hubby arrived 5 mins later and I went to her and asked to move to a Table for eating. She immediately became defensive and said she didn’t bring my drink because she was waiting to take hubbys drink order. I said that’s ok we want to eat so we need a table. She said we could move. 20 mins went by and still no drink and no return to take my hubbys drink order. We ordered nachos and they were fine. Unpleasant experience all around.
I arrived in Halifax for a one-night stay and spent my isolation (traveled from out of province in the quality inn. the inn itself is quite nice. Nothing special, but nice. I called the Bistro to order food. A friendly and professional voice answered the phone and took my order promptly. This is where the experience went downhill; I ordered nachos and an MGD. I was informed as I was speaking with the restaurant employee that they had run out of olives and jalapenos. I said that was fine and I'd still like the nachos imagining that tomatoes, peppers, green onions, etc. would still be part of the dish. I was called 20 minutes later and informed that the restaurant was also out of sour cream and was offered extra salsa as a substitute. This was fine by me. Now... I want to make it clear that I didn't expect the moon. What arrived outside my door was a small (8 x8 takeout box of tortilla chips with melted cheese, perhaps 5-6 small pieces of red pepper and (dry, unseasoned chicken breast on top... and a Heineken. Again... I didn't expect the moon... but you could have salted the chicken a little and brought a beer resembling MGD. I was tired, I was hungry and I ate it and didn't say anything. These are trying times for everyone and I was grateful for something to munch but when I checked out I found out that this pathetic takeout dish of chips and dry chicken (along with the wrong beer cost me $33. I hope they spend it on olives, jalapenos and sour cream for the next poor traveler who stumbles through their door late at night.
