Kai Ola Sushi - Encinitas

Awesome sushi and chicken teriyaki. The watermelon green tea cucumber lime infused drinks were delicious! Great staff, server atmosphere.

This place is ? My bf and I had a huge lunch but wanted something light for dinner so we found ourselves at Kai Ola. The energy of this place is fun, energetic yet chill. We?re from nyc and not used to seeing patrons and staff having fun? We ordered some daily specials split the Spanish toro nigiri (melt in your mouth good), Kampachi nigiri (delicate and tasty), Hokkaido scallop sashimi app (order this and you will lot be disappointed in the glory of the scallop and their creamy sauce) and seaweed salad. Don?t forget to order their homemade wasabi. They should bottle it. I wish we had the stomach for more sushi to smear it on. We?ll be back in future travels

Food was good, but the service was lacking. Server was rude and generally unattentive. He forgot my beverage...being the only person who actually ordered a non-alcoholic beverage at our table I kinda let it slide, but his indifference didn't change until our friends who are locals let the manager know. We tried our best to be as respectful as possible even though our server acted like he didn't want to do his job.

Dined in with my lady and ordered edamame, shishito peppers, calamari, tempura veggies, miso soup, and their blue fin sashimi. Their prices are pretty high which is not a big deal. We were actually excited by them thinking the quality was going to be very good? but that wasn?t the case. They served us a portion of 5 small shishito peppers and very small pieces of soggy edamame. And a few pieces of small tempura veggies. The portions were comical for the price we paid! I couldn?t believe it. The bowl for the miso soup was grimy. The outside had something caked onto it. They also served me the wrong beer. Our water cups had pieces of something floating in them. The blue fin sashimi and calamari were pretty good. The service was ok but the the servers seemed apathetic and drained. Maybe it was just a bad day or the heat from the middle of the day. ????

Great atmosphere and great sushi!!! The Tuna poke bowl is my favorite thing on the menu. The fresh fish and ingredients make for an amazing Poke bowl. We came here 3 times on our 4 day trip! Highly recommend.
