Sierra Woods Lodge - Emigrant Gap

We dropped by as a pitstop, and we're surprised and wanted to return, but the weather and roads did not permit. If we travel this direction again, we will check you out more.Service: 5/5

My family went to Donner ski ranch during my kids’ spring break. We planned to spend 2 days to ski so need a lodge nearby. This hotel is 30 minutes away and just next to I-80, very convenient. Compared to the ones in Truckee, this one is cheap. Hotel is clean, staff are nice. Our room has a queen bed and a bunk bed, which is big and nice for families. The best part my kids love is the room is facing a big backyard with 4-feet deep snow. They just run over and play snow there for the first afternoon we arrived. The restaurant is also good. Tasty food with very nice price.

This is a convenient road house lodge of modest means but a big heart. We landed here unable to find reasonable lodging closer to the slopes at the last moment. The personnel and their professionalism was a totally unexpected level surprise. Same goes with the quality of the food at their homemade looking restaurant. I would not hesitate to come back here.

PRO: Cheap, great location (just off Hwy80) resto/USPS on location, nice staff especially the server/host in the resto, room service available, room was warm, bed comfy, TV and small closet-ish in room, bathroom updated, decent amount of outlet.CON: Super weak wifi, room tiny, no fridge/microwave, not soundproof.RECOMMENDATION: Great for short stay but not for long/extended stays.
