The staff welcomed us very nicely. We got a nice spot, right next to a wood-burning fireplace. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. The menu has a wide range of Greek dishes. The prices are rather high for Greek standards. A glass of wine here costs 3.50 euros, which is the price we got half a liter of white wine on the waterfront in Paleochora the day before. There are special chestnut dishes. You can sit inside and outside. The goat with chestnuts for my wife and my saganaki arrived quickly and was with lots of potatoes and vegetables and relatively little goat meat. It tasted relatively bland, but we had already had much better things for significantly less money on our three-month tour of Crete. On the menu, the two dishes with goat meat were priced at 11 and 12 euros respectively, but they were charged at 15 euros, which we only noticed when we looked at the total bill. We didn't order any bread. It was simply put there and calculated without asking. The total bill for two glasses of wine, a weak main course and a starter was an expensive €29. That was one of the worst price-performance ratios we've had in Greece for years. There are a few free parking spaces available. The best came last. The waitress absolutely had to show me the restaurant on my smartphone. It entered the WLAN code specifically for this purpose. Before I knew it, my cell phone was taken out of my hand, the reviews on the restaurant's page on Google Maps were clicked and five stars were clicked. Now I was urgently asked by the staff to rate their restaurant with five stars in their presence. I have never experienced such a monstrosity. Perhaps this outrageous business practice resulted in the fact that a number of good reviews were given because other guests did not object. Unacceptable for the portion size and price. Fully exploiting visitors in a difficult period in a traditional place famous for its hospitality. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €25–30 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2
Our host had recommended this place to us, so we tried it. Located in the centre of Elos, the restaurant is traditional and the food was yummy. Generous portions, friendly service, good value for money. At the end of the meal we were offered fruit and their chestnut liqueur which was delicious!
