The 1835 Smokehouse - Elkton

No stars worst experience I’ve ever had a BBQ joint. Ten items on a menu and don’t have half of them ready. No bbq sauces no ice for my drink was told five minutes on fries and waited 15 had to walk out on them because unlike this establishment people have things to do.

The portion of meat was normal but the meat was too sweet.They were out of the very side I came there for. The slaw is good.Baked beans, too sweet.I prefer Carolina style and their sauce is not carolina. Period.

I’m leaving a review here because I used to frequent this place often when it was Log Cabin BBQ. It was a staple of our trips to Massanutten and the food and service was always top knotch.About a year and a half ago we revisited when it changed to 1835 Smokehouse. It had declined from its Log Cabin days but was still ok (had table service and food was decent).Just tried going there for dinner the other day and the place had no service at all. They used to sell pies and jams and this time there was nothing. The menu had also completely been cut and there was maybe one person in the whole place.The place was desolate and depressing. We basically left immediately and a good thing too. Recent reviews of this place appear to show we made the right choice.This place needs to be rescued. It used to be an amazing barbecue spot.

Very poor customer service! The last time we went there staff was standing around listening to loud music and wouldn’t come to the counter to assist us. We walked out and left. Called tonight at 7:12 pm to place an order and the guy who answered the phone was rude and stated they are closed because they ran out of everything. They aren’t suppose to close until 8pm. This use to be my favorite restaurant with the old owners but will no longer be dinning here anymore. The customer service is extremely poor, unprofessional, have an “I don’t care attitude”. Drive a few extra minutes and find a different restaurant.

This meal certainly met my high expectations. I got the pork bbq plate which came with two sides and i had to choose mac and cheese and hushpuppies. Lots of places to sit and could be a good hangout with the boys if you are trying to chill for a good 30-45 minutes. Relatively cheap if you are looking for a cheaper place to eat. Atmosphere of place is amazing and i would definitely recommend this place to eat sometime on vacation or just stopping by massanutten.
