Hunan Express - Elkridge

We had a great time at the restaurant! The cream cheese and egg rolls were delicious, and my friend especially enjoyed the pig and broccoli dish served with white rice. I ordered the chicken with roasted rice, and I found it to be a bit on the bland side. However, I still rated the restaurant five stars because this is just a matter of personal taste and doesn't reflect the overall quality of the food or service.

The food portions are enormous, especially for the price—one order can easily satisfy two hungry people or provide leftovers for the next day. As for customer service, while I haven’t had recent interactions, I had a memorable experience a few years ago. One late night, I decided to place an order just 10 minutes before closing. They were happy to take my order, and when I arrived about 12 minutes later (traffic was a nightmare!), my meal was freshly packed and waiting for me. My apologies for the delay were met with a genuine smile, which I really appreciated. Having worked in a busy restaurant myself, I understand how stressful it can be at the end of the night, especially with last-minute orders. This level of service truly impressed me.

In the three years I've been ordering from them, I've never had any issues with the food or service. Their portions are quite generous—I can easily share a lunch with someone! I can't recall ever encountering a problem with the food; it has consistently met my expectations. I'm really happy they're still open and nearby.

We thought the food at Hunan Express was pretty good overall. Usually my yardstick for a Chinese restaurant is their hot and sour soup, but here it was quite average. Not bad, but nothing special. Spring rolls were good, probably a little better than most. But the Morengo Delight was fantastic; it is one of my favorite dishes, and their version was really good.

The honey sesame chicken was excellent, and the vegetarian spring rolls arrived crispy and warm. I ended up dipping them in the honey sesame sauce—absolutely delicious! I would rate it a 10/10 and will definitely be ordering from here again.
