Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

I visited this restaurant two nights in a row and was disappointed both times. The floors were dirty with trash and food on both occasions. The turnip greens and honey mustard were terrible the first night, and the chicken on the second night looked like it had been fried in motor oil - super overcooked and greasy. The chicken pot pie was flavorless. Overall, I was very disappointed. However, I must say that the service was great. The staff is very hospitable, but overall, this restaurant in Elkhart, IN is not great. We prefer our CB back home.

This was by far the worst experience I've had at any Cracker Barrel. We were seated immediately even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. Our waitress took our order within 5 minutes, but it took another 10 minutes for our tea to come out. At one point, a table nearby complained to the waitress that they had been waiting for almost an hour. When our waitress finally came back to our table after an hour, I asked her what the problem was since we had noticed that at least 3 other tables who arrived after us had already been served their food. Her response was that she had reminded the cooks. The fried chicken was clearly overcooked in bad oil, almost black. The mac n cheese was lukewarm and the dumplings my wife ordered were so thick and tasted like flour because they weren't cooked enough. We didn't see a manager anywhere in sight.

Every time we visit Cracker Barrel, we have a great experience. The only issue we encountered during our recent breakfast was that they were understaffed, causing a slight delay in service. Despite this, we stayed overnight in our RV in the parking lot after enjoying a delicious dinner. The breakfast was tasty, but there were some delays in taking our order and receiving our meal. Other than that, our experience was consistently excellent.

It wasn't a good start of our day today at this place. We were seated right away and asked for our drinks which I ordered coffee with creamer. When coffee came it took awhile for my creamer to come and when it was served it was just placed on our table. Not a big deal though not appropriate. Then the utensils came when my coffee is not hot anymore but warm already. I pulled the teaspoon from the utensils bag and noticed they are still wet, maybe they just had it washed. I let our server KELSEY know that it could have been better if they wipe it before putting it in the bag but she got mad and raise her voice so I asked her why is she mad. She said she did not do it but I calmly said that I know but just letting her know. She turned her back without saying a word so we talked to the manager and we received an apology. The next thing that happened was we seemed to be double punished as nobody is taking care of us anymore and I didn't get my coffee refill until I asked somebody if she can do me a favor of having a refill. My breakfast appetite died so just asked for a box for the food that I ordered. Today is 6/5/23.

The food and service was terrible the last time we were there. We waited an hour for our food and it was hardly edible. We ordered fish and shrimp and the shrimp was overcooked and rubbery and the fish was little broken pieces of mostly breading. We will not be returning.
