First Wednesday Food Truck Mania

I attended the Elk Grove food truck event for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We tried Rudy's Hideaway, and their steak tacos were incredible! The sauce they topped it with was absolutely delicious. We're definitely planning to return to try more!

The atmosphere of the event was relaxed, featuring a singer with a fun setlist, and thankfully there were no issues with sound feedback or loudspeakers. It was nice to see many families enjoying the evening together. There were two long rows of tables and chairs that seemed adequate for the crowd, especially since they also provided bar tables for those who preferred to stand. The event was well-maintained, with enough trash cans to keep the area clean, and everyone made an effort to clean up after themselves. All in all, it was a lovely event that I would be happy to attend again!

I’ve attended three other food truck events in various locations around the Sacramento area, all of which were held in lovely parks with grassy areas and lots of shade. They had bounce houses for kids, great live music, and even beer gardens for adults, making it easy to relax and enjoy a few hours of fun. However, the Elk Grove event was a complete disappointment. It was set up in a sweltering gravel parking lot right next to train tracks, where loud trains disrupted the atmosphere. There was no shade, no beer garden, and just some guy strumming a boring acoustic guitar for entertainment. People seemed to just eat their food and leave quickly. It’s frustrating that Elk Grove insists on hosting most of their events in this uncomfortable parking lot when there are plenty of nice parks that would be far better venues!

I must say that this is a pretty cool little venue that Elk Grove has going on. When it first started there were a TON of people. It seems like it has died down a little which I think is good for business because the lines aren't nearly as long the second time around. The pricing is also a little crazy, but I guess you are paying more for the novelty of it, right? And don't come too hungry unless you don't mind spending a lot of money. They had live music which was great. The atmosphere is a lot of fun and family oriented which is nice. Face painting and balloon guy for the kids. I wish I had gotten some pictures, but trying to keep track of our 1 yr old was a chore. The selection of food is really nice as well so you can't go wrong there. I just wish there was more seating and it wasn't so darn expensive, but that wouldn't stop me from coming once in a while as a treat.
