Yosemite Cedar Lodge - El Portal

The proximity to Yosemite is the star feature of the lodge. It was nice to be able to come back to the hotel and have a swim to avoid crowds during the peak times at the park. We were only given 4 towels for our stay and I requested a few extras so that we would have separate towels to use after swimming. The staff said that they would be delivered to our room, but that never happened, and they seemed annoyed that I would make such a request. The room was clean, but very basic. Parking was hard to come by when we get back to the lodge after sunset.

Conveniently located in El Portal and is about half an hour away from the nearest entrance to Yosemite national park. This lodge might disappoint you if you were expecting a resort for the price you paid, but rooms are definitely clean and well maintained. They have many nice amenities like game room, indoor and outdoor pool, well stocked grocery store and even a restaurant. I highly recommend it for your Yosemite adventure. The drive to the lodge is also pretty.Highlight of this stay for us was the beautiful path right next to a river that flows across the street. If nothing else, the lodge is worth for this river part all at the least. The path is well kept and dim lit at night making the experience very pleasant. On a clear night, you will also see the sky light up with innumerable stars.

This is definitely not a luxury hotel, but it has clean and spacious rooms, friendly service, and a convenient general store at the front desk open until 11 PM. The prices are higher than typical in cities given the amenities, but understandable given the location and not a rip-off. There are 2 restaurants on premises and they’re nothing to write home about, but the bar was solid. Overall, would definitely go back when in Yosemite.

Was a nice stay. Room was good size. Was fun watching the kids survive without internet! Very convenient to Yosemite. I would recommend. Restaurant was not open but bar was. Had dinner there once and was great. Bartender was our server and she was fantastic. Kids loved the pool. Even though they had construction going on, it was not a nuisance. The location is beautiful. 0 signals anywhere there, and you have to pay $10.00 a day for a signal , even when you are not the best signal. You have to clean your own room and take your own trash out. The only thing that cleaning crew does every morning is to offer you clean towels. We even asked for trash bags, and they said they didn't have any. This is not a cheap place and should provide at least a clean room for the guests. I like the location, but the rooms need tlc.
