Papa Poblanos Mexican Cafe - El Dorado

I had a great experience at this Mexican restaurant, primarily because of the nachos. We visited and I shared my order with the waitress, referring to them as the birthday nachos. They were fantastic!

I arrived early and it seemed like I was the only one in the restaurant. The service was excellent; the staff allowed me some time to look over the menu before taking my order. I chose a chimichanga, and it arrived hot and fresh. The flavor was impressive, although I wish it had been fried a bit longer, as it had a slightly smoky undertone. The rice was a delightful mix of vegetables, bursting with flavor, which I really enjoyed. The chips were crispy and had a wonderful corn taste. My only complaint was the small amount of salsa, which came in a tiny cup.

The restaurant is consistently moderately busy, but the food is excellent. The service is always outstanding, and their margaritas are top-notch! Give it a try!

Food was good and service was good. The prices are okay. Our waitress Marisela was nice and attentive to our table. The terrace view was also a plus.

This is a Tex-Mex style to where part of the foods are authentic Mexican food with parts mixed within being more Texas style. For example, my cheese enchiladas featured Colby cheese. I wasn't happy about that. The chicken was delicious and so were the sauces on top. Additionally, the salsas and chips were delicious and make it worth a visit. We ordered the taco ala cart but we must have been offered the authentic tacos, to which we agreed, but that changed the prices to being five dollars more. Additional cilantro was a dollar. Additional authentic hot salsa, also a dollar. These charges were not explained to us. However, the total cost of the meal was so incredibly low that it honestly doesn't matter. I just expect the server to mention it up front. Authentic Mexican food at restaurants like these are often priced very low, which leads me to tipping almost as much as the meal itself. The prices were still very low. Oh, and get the Horchata! Oh, it was delicious!
