The food was pretty good, but over priced as others have mentioned. 32$, before tax, for 6 fried shrimp on a bed of fries. The burger is priced decent but it’s 5$ extra for bacon, cheese, and jalapeños. Kids chicken tenders was 12$. The only thing that made up for the overpriced food was our server , Justin. He was nice, helpful, and attentive.
The building is very nice and the service was great. However, food is overpriced, and it is not worth the prices they charge. Chicken fried steak was the second worst I had in my life. Over cooked meat, very poor salty breading. The Sangria Wine tastes more like a Merlo. I will say the fried Carlamari was good, but the jalapeños soaked in vinegar are not good on it. If you don't mind paying more for not so good food, go give it a try. The drinks are priced well during happy hour.
I’ve only come to El Campo a handful of times, but everyone recommended this restaurant. I was excited to come and thought it was cute and had good ambiance. We were seated a little before 6:30pm in the bar area and our server was so nice and had good drinks and app recommendations. It took a while to be able to order things, which was surprising because it didn’t seem excessively busy. We placed our food order at 6:51pm, after 8pm we still hadn’t received it so we started asking about it because all of the tables near us, including tables seated well after us, had ordered, eaten, paid and left. We were the only table in that room left and our server was sweet and kept apologizing. Eventually, a “manager” comes over to speak to us. Honestly, I was expecting more of an apology than “I’m sorry you had a problem with the wait. Do you still want the food so I can tell the kitchen to make it?” Close to 8:30pm we decided to just take whatever they made to go and were extremely disappointed in the quality of the food. If I wanted greasy pasta, rubber shrimp, and a subpar experience I would have gone to the Olive Garden.
We drove 79 miles one way to check this place out. Has been on our list since seeing it on TX Bucket List and it was worth the drive. Had the quail, ahi tuna, chicken fried steak and chopped steak and it was delicious. We'll be back.
