La Destileria Patagonia Pulled & Bar

Dropped in randomly for a quick sandwich and ended with a very satisfying meal for an even more satisfying price. Luciano, the cook, had a very pleasant attitude from the moment we walked in, and truly made us feel at home. He was amazing in helping my girlfriend and I plan our upcoming days with great suggestions for things to do in Calafate and el Chalten. We have already visited to eat twice since we've been here, and may end up there again since there are 4 different sandwiches to choose from (I've done two different ones and have enjoyed them very much)

This place is conveniently located on the Main Street and it is one, if not the only one, place that opens all day long. Apparently Argentinian restaurants take a break from 2:30pm to 7:00pm and everything closes except for this place. Thank God. It only has a street sign and then you have to walk into the alley to find it so keep your eyes open because it is a little hidden. They serve only three types of pulled sandwich: lamb, beef and chicken. We liked it so much the first time that we had 1 sandwich per day for the rest of our holiday. There are a whole bunch of sauces to put on, I particularly recommend the garlic and the ginger sauces. Just get ready for a garlicky breathe the rest of the day. They also have wines and beer, a cute little back yard with a rose garden and a very friendly cat who will eat fries from your hand if you feed her. The cook (Luciano) and the young girl helping (Maria) are very nice and friendly. Such a nice place.

Loved a quick burger her after discovering El Calafate... Chef spoke little English, but entertained us and the burger was very tasty!

Un lugar para comer rápido y seguir disfrutando del calafate, con unas hamburguesas riquísimas! No recuerdo la chica de la caja ni el nombre del cocinero pero fueron amables y simpáticos nos quedamos charlando con ellos mientras almorzábamos muy buena onda, ambiente relajado, cocinan a la vistaAh no dejen de probar las salsas que están muy buenas!

The chef walked us through the menu and knew his product like the back of his hand. There are four or five types of pulled meat sandwiches and my two friends and I tried the pork, beef, and lamb. The pulled lamb was the winner in our books, but all were good. Especially with the sauces!We hiked the glacier earlier in the day and were starved, the sandwich and fries more than filled up three grown men known to be heavy eaters hahaLong story short, we talked about eating here again the second night but wanted to try something different in town. We all agreed going back would have been the right choice! :)
