Karlas Mexican Food - El Cajon

I am from lakeside, and I no longer live there, but I still use Karla's as a basis for comparison for every taco shop I ever go to. Of all the taco shops in east county, Karla's is the best. Super cheap, great tasting, fantastic hot sauce, and right next to 7-11 so you can get a drink while you wait! Seriously though, the best taco shop around on the outer rim of east county, they do it better than anyone else! The pollo asada is legendary, but just about everything is great. In my opinion, the only true 5 star taco shop in east county.

I had a delicious but somewhat small breakfast burrito at this spot in East County. The burrito, which was wrapped in a flour tortilla, featured bacon, eggs, and cheese, all for just under $5. The eggs tasted good, but they could have been scrambled better. The bacon was excellent, cooked to a nice crispy edge with a bit of chewiness in the middle. The cheese was mostly melted and the flour tortilla was of good quality. I used a single container of hot sauce to enhance the flavor of my burrito, and it worked well. The young lady at the counter was a bit reserved but friendly.

I ordered a Cali burrito, and it was quite dry. I've had better ones from this place before. Unfortunately, I have to give it a thumbs down due to the awful fatty meat.

They have really good food here breakfast burritos are cheap and there the bomb however they are not to big and not to small so in the middle. They use actu potatoes not fench fries in there burritios this is a plus!!!!!!

I just found out that this place has closed, and it held a special significance for me. I've been visiting since I was a child, and my late grandpa always took me here for a quesadilla. If anyone knows the brand of cheese they used, I would really appreciate it. I’m going to miss this place dearly...
