Kaizen Sushi Poke Grill - El Cajon

This was the first time trying this place out and it was beyond worth it! Everything was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced! Definitely a hidden gem and a must try!

Super delicious sushi and poke bowl! We also got the calamari and squid salad. It was amazing and we will be back!!

I ordered the Rainbow Roll and the first thing I noticed was the rice: it was hard, crunchy and had no taste, meaning they didn't add enough water/didn't accommodate for the high humidity levels we've been having lately. They also didn't use the sushirice seasoning. 2nd thing was the huge chunk of imitation crab in it; most places will TAKE THE TIME to dice it up so it doesn'toverpower the roll because that's all I was able to taste; I won't order from here again because it seems to be an ongoingproblem with their rice ??????????

The food at this restaurant is delicious, but the service leaves much to be desired. I have visited twice and both times the service was terrible. During my first visit with my 3-year-old toddler and wife, we ordered sushi rolls and nuggets for my child. It took nearly 1 hour and 30 minutes for the nuggets to arrive, despite ordering them as an appetizer because my child was hungry. The nuggets were delivered burnt, as if they had been forgotten and rushed to fry them quickly. During my second visit with just my wife, we experienced similar issues with slow service. Our appetizers and sushi rolls took an hour to arrive after our drinks. This type of service is unacceptable, as appetizers should be served before the main meal. The food is tasty, but the service is severely lacking. It seems they only have one person handling both waitressing and online orders.

The sushi rolls were excellent. My favorite was the rainbow roll, but the Kaizen specialty fried roll was also very good. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the sushi considering the restaurant is located in a commercial strip mall. We will definitely be returning in the future.
