Downtowner - El Cajon

The restaurant is currently closed for renovations, so we were served food at the bar on the 5th floor, Circa 1963. The service was terrible and we had to wait for over 20 minutes before a server finally came to assist us.

We had a great experience having dinner with friends downtown. It was our first time at this restaurant and the service was excellent. The staff was very attentive, made suggestions when one of the main dishes was unavailable, and were very friendly. I would recommend The Downtowner to anyone.

For Valentine's dinner. Live music and service were great. The food was less than expected and Dessert was definitely not worth the price. But the ambience was good, and it wasn't super packed with people either. Great peach tea!

Beautiful restaurant and ambience! Matthew was a big waiter and patient with all my questions and helpful in menu decisions.

It was a fixed menu for NYE. Strip was mediocre. The meat was a bit grainy and even medium rare did not help it. The wine selection is limited and they were out of many things. It was really about 3.5 stars and I doubt we will return but it's worth a try for the location. The bar upstairs seems to be more lively. Overall we were underwhelmed.
