Black Bear Diner - El Cajon

Fantastic breakfast and excellent service! I had heard about the generous portions, so I opted for a lighter meal and ordered the Shasta Scramble from the 'diet' section of the menu. I ended up so full that I even had leftovers to take home. The hashbrowns were wonderfully crispy on the outside, which I really enjoyed, and the biscuit was enormous! The four slices of bacon on the side were thick, delicious, and cooked to perfection. We loved it so much that we returned and tried the chicken fried steak and egg combo, as well as the ham and egg combo. Black Bear is definitely going on our list of favorite breakfast spots!

The food is wonderful, the portions are generous, and the prices are fantastic! Plus, you can sign up for a birthday special through your email! I've never had a dish here that I didn't enjoy thoroughly!

My family and I visited this location for the first time on April 4, 2021, just a day before my mom's birthday. Everything was absolutely delicious, and we can't wait to go back again with my parents and my son. My son and I are regulars at the Black Bear Diner in Portland, Oregon, and we often visit the one in Gresham. If you find yourself near this location, you definitely need to give it a try!

Staff and food are amazing! A group of us from work met for breakfast and the staff was super attentive and when the food arrived, it looked and tasted delicious. This was my dish...The Shasta Scramble! A LOT of food and don't forget those amazing Biscuits!

I had the 2 eggs and corn beef hash. First off, come here with an appetite because their biscuits are huge. Food was absolute amazing. The staff was also amazing. If you come here, you will need to be willing to wait cause there is definitely a line. Would highly recommend coming here at least once if you are visiting San Diego.
