Tacos La Mexicana - Edmonton

Small and quaint. Some may call it a hole in the wall and we all know those are some of the best places to eat. This restaurant does not disappoint. Enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas, even calamari are all offered on the menu. Mexican sodas can be found in the cooler. We orders the Plato del Fish Tacos (3) and Steak quesadilla for two of us. Both were very yummy, my only complaint would be that the salsa and guacamole were not homemade. We sat outside as it was very hot inside, no A/C, doesn't get more authentic than that.

I hate when people advertise Mexican as if it was as simple as putting something in a tortilla, I tried five different tacos, they were less than ok, I felt cheated, the price is also a bit high for that kind of food, the lady was very kind but still kind of slow. there are other mexican options in edmonton, don't waste your time/money.

The place is small, with about 7-8 tiny tables, and is more of a take-out than eat-in. Although it's in a prime location just off busy Whyte Avenue, it should be packed at week-day lunchtime, but when I was there at 11:30-noon, there were only two other customers---a bad sign.They make the claim of offering "the healthiest Mexican dishes in Edmonton," which is a bit far-fetched. They offer the usual Mexican "street food": tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, for example, which don't take to long to prepare. I ordered the beef enchilada plate and for $10 got hamburger meat and fried onions as a filling but with no spices that I could taste. The wrapping was deep-fried and obviously out of a box, and was greasy with an unappetizing overwhelming fried taste. To accompany that, there was a small side of sour cream and a small "hot sauce" (which was totally mild and without taste).The eating area and washrooms could do with a bit of cleaning, too. My first and last visit there!

I had the 3 Taco special. The price was great, service was great. I didn't know they had fish tacos, though. Staff is very friendly!

Food is decent but very very slow service. We had fish and beef tacos. Took forever. Probably will not be back.
