Nikki's Westmount - Edmonton

Great food and great service. Great value and the donair is one of the best in the city. This establishment hasn't changed in over 25 years! Awesome.

Nikki's is in a food court in Westmount Shopping Mall. It's a good change from a lot of the run-of-the-mill fast-food places that churn out sub-standard stuff. It seems to me that Nikki's is a privately owned business, and I like to think (though I don't know for certain) that the lean, grey-haired man who is always there---and cooking over the grill himself much of the time---is actually Nikki! Because there are Greek-style items on the menu (Greek salad, kebabs, donairs), he might actually be Greek.There are always lots of customers around, ordering their favourites. The pleasant staff of about 3-4 men seem to know many customers by name. Near to this shopping mall is a large senior citizens' complex, and it looks to me as if many of them are regulars at Nikki's.A couple of people have told me that the donairs are fantastic, especially when smothered with the special creamy garlic sauce. I haven't eaten one, but usually get a standard order of a cheeseburger with everything on it, and I always ask for the garlic sauce to be one of the toppings! The beef for the burgers is grilled and retains the charcoal scorch marks that give the meat extra flavour. The toppings of tomato, lettuce, etc. are fresh and have flavour. And I like the way "Nikki" puts on the mustard, ketchup and garlic sauce---in an artistic spiral pattern! I also often have a side of onion rings, and they are not limp or greasy but very crisp.The items on the menu are the usual food court standards, but for taste and value (e.g., $7 for the cheeseburger and onion rings) Nikki's is a cut above other places of this type.

A must stop for us when in the area of Westmount. The burgers and fries are excellent. Prices are extremely reasonable for a "handmade" burger and freshly cooked fries or onion rings. Burger is grilled while you wait, then you have a choice of the toppings for the burger. Service is friendly and helpful. This is food court eating, but the food is above the standard fast food fair.

Nikki's in Westmount Mall in Edmonton is one of the best places I have found to have a donair. I have never tried any of their other food but notice that the burgers seem really popular too. However the donairs are not to be missed, loaded with Nikki's special donair meat and sauce, lots of onions, tomatoes and lettuce. A real treat. I was talking with a person from another city and when she found out I was from Edmonton and liked Donairs she said "You know the best place to get donairs in that city?" - at the Same time we both said "Nikki's in Westmount mall" Check it out. Food court is OK but a bit noisy- especially at lunch time.

This business has been in Westmount Shopping Centre for a very long timeAnd rightfully so -- their beef dip is an affordable delight.
