Overall, it was a good experience and we will definitely go back. The waiter was gracious and helpful but he was the only one working and sometimes it was hard to get his attention. However, we had time, so it wasn't a big problem.
The meal wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything special. Overall, it was “meh”. Our server was very nice, but he was the only guy working in the restaurant’s front section, and we were the only table of customers. They advertise their cuisine as “international”, but make no mistake ... they are an Indian restaurant, and they clearly only want to serve you Indian food. For the very few “Western” dishes they serve, they were out of nearly EVERYTHING on the non-Indian menu, including the desserts. It was comical ... I went down the line from soups to lamb, and they were all unavailable. The server valiantly tried to get me to switch my order to something on the Indian side of the menu, which I reluctantly did. I am not expert in Indian cuisine, but I am rather fond of tandoori dishes (they purported to have two available). Sadly, the tandoori chicken was uninspired and “okay” at best. My companion, who grew up in India and knows her Indian foods, had the same verdict on her chicken biriani ... meh. Not terrible, but certainly not anything worth writing home about. Their soup of the day was a tomato soup, and it was outstanding. We had to order it because the original starters we ordered were .... unavailable. However, I can’t give you any assessment of their desserts, because the ones we ordered were, once again ... unavailable. We decided to skip desserts instead. All in all, lovely ambience, the staff are nice, but it just misses the mark as a serious contender for high dining in Edmonton.
Had not been to this restaurant for some time. Looked forward to the lemon gnocchi and expressed disappointment to the server when the dish arrived with a medley of finely diced veggies and onions. While these added colour to the dish, they obliterated the lemon flavour of the gnocchi. On a cold Edmonton day I was seeking a comfort dish. My dining companion, on the other hand, loved her veggie sandwich, and would only share a couple of her battered fries they were that tasty!
The food was good and a bit spicy. the waiter was very attentive. The price was correct.
