Sugarworld Waterpark - Edmonton

Located well off the usual tourist path in Cairns, Sugarworld Water Park is a hidden gem that's absolutely worth the trip, especially for families with young children looking for a fun and affordable day out. During our visit to Cairns, my son spotted an advertisement for Sugarworld on the main train ride. Intrigued, we decided to take our family there, and I’m so glad we did—this place is fantastic! While it may not be as expansive as some American water parks with countless rides and attractions sprawled over acres, Sugarworld is tailored primarily for younger kids, specifically those aged 10 and under. Approximately 75% of the park is dedicated to this age group, featuring two shallow pools with small slides, water jets, and showers. There’s also a larger activity area with a giant tipping bucket, additional small slides, steeper and twisty tube slides, and a large water play area that resembles a car wash—all exclusive to children under 10, with parents required to supervise. Our five-year-old twins had an absolute blast! For older kids and adults, there are a mat racer, a hose slide, and body slides available for those who meet a specific height requirement. Additionally, there’s a deeper pool with a beautiful rock waterfall that younger kids can access only when accompanied by an adult. As for the prices? It's just $8 AUD for kids, $16 for adults, and $13 for children aged 5 to 13 for the big slides—all day long! Unbelievable! There are even family rates for two adults and two children, as well as senior discounts at only $4 AUD. There's a small kiosk inside offering standard fare like hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and fish and chips, but many families opt to bring their own picnic lunches to enjoy at the various tables throughout the park. There’s also a barbecue area for those who prefer grilling. But there’s more! Right next to Sugarworld is Thomas Swallow Park, which features an amazing playground, walking trails, and a charming locomotive—plus it's completely free! Ample free parking is available as well. We can’t wait to return!

I reached out to them several times with questions about their session times, but although they read my messages, they never responded. It's disappointing because I was really looking forward to taking my kids there!

The restaurant has an outdated and worn-down atmosphere, and it seems like there are young kids working there. One of the young employees at the café struggled with problem-solving, but to his credit, he looked around 10 years old, so it's understandable that he might not have the experience yet.

We recently spent a day at Sugarworld, and our kids had a fantastic time. They loved all the slides and play areas. The staff were friendly and professional, which made the experience even better. We also bought food in the park, and it was reasonably priced, with generous portions that tasted great. I highly recommend it for a family outing!
