Does the job, smaller than the main station but it has a few coffee shops including one that's designed to look like a phone box which is pretty cool.
Haymarket Station has been redeveloped beyond all recognition in the past few years, thanks to some incredible engineering.
My husband and I recently dined at Metro and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant. The portion sizes of the steak with vegetables and chips were extremely small, leaving us feeling like we had ordered a child's meal. The steak was no larger than three fingers, with a minimal amount of French fries and what appeared to be roasted tomatoes as the accompanying vegetables for 18 euros. The chicken Caesar salad was also disappointing, with dry chicken and wilted lettuce. Although there may have been Parmesan cheese, I cannot confirm. Overall, we were very disappointed with our experience at Metro.
During our stay at a B&B on West Coates, we discovered a great dining spot just a five-minute walk away. Metro West End on Haymarket Terrace, a restaurant attached to the Apex hotel, impressed us with its modern decor and friendly staff. The ambience was very pleasant and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the grilled chicken, cabbage, and fries while my wife ordered the haddock and chips, both of which were mouth-wateringly tasty. Our bill came to £41.30 for both meals, sweets, and drinks, which we found to be reasonable considering the quality of the food. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant on our next visit to Edinburgh for dinner. Highly recommended.
