Wetherspoon Pub At The White Lady

What a fantastic restaurant to visit! We stopped by around 11:30 for a quick drink and were impressed by how clean and busy it was. It was a pleasure to walk into a well-kept 'spoons and not see any dirty dishes or glasses lying around. We only stayed for one drink, but the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The toilets were also spotless. Congratulations to the staff for being such a credit to the company.

After placing our food order, I decided to order some drinks. My granddaughter, who was with me, was asked for her ID even though she is 23 years old and was not purchasing alcohol. I clarified that I, as the one making the purchase, was not selling to a minor. I also explained that as the buyer, I could technically buy alcohol for an 11-year-old as long as food was being consumed at the restaurant. Despite my reluctance, I asked my granddaughter to go home and get her ID so she could enjoy her special cocktail. I suggested to the bartender to consult the manager about the laws regarding serving alcohol with food, but he did not seem familiar with them. To avoid further inconvenience, I let it go and suggested that maybe it was just a rule in Scotland. I urge the restaurant to educate their staff on current licensing laws when serving drinks with food, as this situation caused a lot of unnecessary trouble. It is important to keep everyone informed, especially the managers.

The White Lady location of Wetherspoons is very homey and has a family atmosphere at dinner time on a Friday evening. The drinks were served promptly and the ambiance was definitely much calmer than many Spoons in the Edinburgh city centre. The waitstaff was very friendly and actually conversed with us when delivering our drinks which were ordered via the app. I would recommend this Spoons to those who need a quick drink within the area.

While visiting Edinburgh, we decided to eat here as it was a Thursday, so curry night. The bar was extremely busy and we struggled to get a table at first, but found one eventually in the back section. Had a drink, whiling browsing the menu, and then ordered our curry meals via the app, so quick and easy. Our drinks arrived within a minute and the food came out not long afterwards. Curry, rice, naan and 2 poppadoms, with a drink of your choice for under £10 excellent value. The food was piping hot and the vindaloo was very spicy , both meals were delicious and very tasty indeed. Service was excellent from a team of hardworking, friendly and welcoming staff. Overall a lovely visit and would definitely recommend and return.
