The Toad in the Hole was delicious. Do not know local Ales, the bar recommended a dark beer, and it was perfect. Will definitely be back.
The Conan Doyle is a fun pub while visiting in the city. Apparently, it pays tribute to Edinburgh's own, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes. It is a fun atmosphere and the food and drinks are good. Visitors notice while Google says it opens at 12 noon, they advertise the opening at noon, and the kitchen is not always ready when the doors open to the pub. It is a place for a casual lunch and a drink, not fast food.
Traditional pub with a wide selection of dishes (which receive fish and chips) and nice service. Always a nice atmosphere to go, whether quiet or busy.
Absolutely loved the ambience! The food was okay, but expensive. I had my first traditional Scottish cake. I'd go back there, maybe just for a drink next time and not food.
We were in here for lunch so it wasn't crowded. Lots of traditional pub fare choices and all cooked excelently. We got a nice little booth overlooking the street. The sound track was 60s 70s whicjh I love!
