This restaurant is a classic pub with a diverse menu. The delicious pies, including many vegetarian options, are perfect for a cozy meal on a cool autumn night. Be sure to save room for dessert, especially the caramel biscuit torte which goes well with a glass of Ardbeg. If you're a fan of Scotch, ask for Ashley at the bar. She is not only friendly and enhances the pub atmosphere, but she is also knowledgeable about Scotch and can suggest the perfect drink for you or discuss your passion for the spirit.
My friends and I were searching for a good place to have lunch and a drink. A nearby pub that didn't serve food recommended Nicholson's to us. We all had the Salmon cakes and a 1/2 pint of hard cider. It was absolutely fantastic. The food was tasty and the ambience was just right. It was our final day in Edinburgh and will always be a cherished memory.
Good food, good drinks, nice atmosphere, however service was lacking. The waitress didn’t have any customer service skills at all. And then they added 10% service fee onto the bill which was not mentioned anywhere on the menu and certainly wasn’t warranted by the level of service from the waitress on July 27th. Pity, as it spoiled an otherwise enjoyable experience
Visited for one drink only. Did not have a lot of drink available due to King Charles visit at St Giles’s. Reason we only stayed for one. Service was good and place was not too busy.
