Contribuiți la feedbackThis place is excellent. We enjoy visiting whenever we are in Edinburgh. The staff provide friendly and attentive service, even during busy periods. There are plenty of options on the menu, but we always choose the mussels because they are amazing - there are plenty in a portion and they are cooked to perfection every time. We highly recommend this place and are already looking forward to returning. Highly recommend it.
So very disappointed with my meal at the Mussel Inn. Have been here lots of times before and always had their seafood chowder. I have enjoyed and looked forward to it many times. But no more. Today 's chowder was bland, the fish and seafood had been ground down so it wasn 't chunky, it was watery and not creamy. It tasted cheap and luxurious as it has in the past. I also had a half pot of mussels in shallot sauce. These were delicious. The bread was fresh and crunchy but no butter. I can 't remember if I used to get butter automatically but it may be something you now need to ask for. I mentioned to the waitress at the time that the chowder wasn 't good and she returned it to the kitchen. When I asked her later what they had said, she said they just ignored me. There was no issue with the chowder being removed from the bill (it 's £11.90 for a large bowl so not cheap) but i won 't visit there again. I used to go as a treat, something for when I was child free in Edinburgh. If you want a good seafood chowder then go elsewhere. To give it it 's due, if you enjoy fresh mussels, then I would recommend it for that.
Great little restaurant. We booked a table at 8:30 and I’d was full of customers and vibrant. Simple menu primarily sea food as the name suggests with shell fish front and centre. The service was friendly and fast. The food was amazing. We had oyster natural and grilled to start they were fresh and full of the sea. We then had mussels mine Moroccan of the menu chilli garlic and warm spices) and my partner the special chilli and smoked cheese). The mussels were soft and sumptuous and the broths so tasty. Came with fresh crusty bread to mop it up. Wine list was moderate but we had a nice picpoul which complimented the food. Will return next time I’m in Edinburgh
We didn 't have a table booked for Friday night, and they said come back in 30 mins , so we grabbed a drink in one of the pubs that are very close, We really liked the look and feel of Mussel Inn the decor and seating are very casual. The food was delicious, we shared a hot sea food platter, that was plenty for 2, and delicious (again sorry! and obviously fresh. Very good value (esp as I think Edinburgh is a very expensive city . I think we paid £46 a head for starters, and the platter, with chips and bread.
We had a great evening at this restaurant. Food excellent, staff friendly and professional. Thank you
