Cafe Keno - Edinburgh, City of

Great food friendly staff all round a great place to eat, especially breakfast, which we had on two consecutive days of being in Edinburgh I would recommend this lovely little cafe to anyone who is visiting Edinburgh.

I went to Cafe Keno for lunch with my two kids. We waited for 30 minutes after ordering, then got up to leave. The staff ran after us and said we were the next order, but once inside, we were told it would be another 15 minutes. We decided to leave and went down the street to another cafe, where we were told there was a 6-minute wait. We were served within 10 minutes and had a much better experience there. We will never go back to Cafe Keno again.

We didn't have the opportunity to review the food. The service was so poor after we received our coffees that we decided to leave. When we spoke to the management before leaving, all we got was a shrug of his shoulders. Very classy.

On our last night in Edinburgh we decided to splash out and get an Angus steak which was on Cafe Keno’s menu. The “steak” was a piece of very dry wafer thin tough “meat” which was more like a piece of stale hard leather. One of our party could not even cut it with a steak knife, so it was just left on the plate as it was inedible. It was one of the most expensive items on the menu so we thought we would get something special. How wrong we were. The description on the menu was nothing like we actually got. When I complained about the inedible s steak, the worker there just shrugged his shoulders and thrust the card machine to me .. he could not have cared less, all he was interested in was getting payment. When I said to him we did not get what we were paying for, another shrug. I could not believe the attitude.. most places will apologise and give you a discount, but not here. Very arrogant. First place I have ever been to where steak was on the menu they did not even offer any sauces. If I could have given them a zero rating, I would have done so.

This cafe is not recommended. While the location is good, the service and food are both subpar. The owners seem arrogant and show no regard for customer service.
