Al Fresco Giuliano's Bistro

I booked this restaurant for a special treat for my husband's birthday. The food, as always, was outstanding! The service was okay, as the restaurant was very busy and the servers were doing their best. My husband was thrilled to receive ice cream with a candle for his birthday, which was a very nice touch. Thank you for acknowledging his special day. We can't wait to return, as this is our favorite Italian restaurant in Edinburgh.

I will not return to this restaurant. I had made a reservation for a pre-theatre meal and ended up waiting an hour for my main course to arrive. I almost missed the show, which was right across the street. The staff were not understanding or helpful. I was extremely disappointed.

Great food, no questioning that!! The apple pie desert was one of the best I've had. The service was very hit and miss. The gentleman that welcomed us at the front desk was very kind and considerate. Very charming. Unfortunately, our waiter (wearing glasses) seemed to want to be anywhere else than there that night. Other tables were offered water, we weren't. When I asked him for a recommendation off the menu he seemed put out by this. When offering parmesan we only recieved about half a teaspoon before he walked off. In general, he was just rude and brought the whole vibe of the family meal down. Another waiter (with a beard) was serving other tables and was so friendly and chatty- we really wish we had him! The food was great, I cannot complain. But the service from the waiter we had, really brought the tone down. Such a shame. Try and paint a smile on, at least!

This authentic Italian restaurant is better than any other restaurant in Glasgow or Aberdeen that we have visited. We are both Italian and on each visit the food has been exceptional.They made us a lovely seabass fillet with very tasty vegetable side dishes. There is a varied selection of wines to choose from to suit every palate. Giuliano and his staff are so attentive and value each customer. Definately do not miss out on going to this restaurant located opposite from thr Edinburgh Playhouse and close to the Holiday Inn IHG Edinburgh city centre.

Great food and excellent service. Staff were attentive and all 6 of us had a fantastic meal. Really good value for money. Would highly recommend.
