Contribuiți la feedbackWe decided to eat at the last minute and didn't disappoint us. Inners were haggis balls, delicious. My partner had lobsters. The main dishes had baked salmon, absolutely sensational, my partner had veal that enjoyed a lot. I must add that this restaurant makes you feel welcome, Sylvia is very friendly, recommends the best wines, etc.
Sometimes you find yourself with a place that makes you go back more than once in a short time. This was the case of Al BORGO What a brilliant restaurant. This is not an authentic Italian restaurant, it's a real one! It can be located on the outskirts of the capital of Scotland, but being of Italian property and family management, it ensures that it receives a true Italian service, food and, more importantly, welcome! When we were forced to cancel our complete Christmas plans, we had two successive visits (not planned to Al Borgo, one of which was actually made on Christmas Eve.During drinks on the two nights, we enjoyed a variety of meals. As a driver, I resigned myself to alcoholless beer and found Morretti Zero, a imported Italian beer (nothing of this burbish elaborated by Burton. It was full of flavor and, frankly, it was far above the vast majority of its competitors. My companions ate the Italian wine Pinot and commented more than favorably.During the two visits, our innkeepers included Olives (variate selection of black and green, including some massive examples , Garlic Pan, the most delicious minstrone soup and lobsters crushed in a dough (I thought they were roasted chirivias .The main dishes included a variety of different pasta dishes, including the heana A good sized block surrounded by a beautifully fragrant salsa and tasting. It is best described as lasagna sheets in layers (I counted 5 sheets in two layers each intercalated with a thin layer of creamy sauce and solid beef. Unbelievable! The pizzas we ate were something else. So rich and abundant that we could not finish them in the place, but the remains were bent and will become part of our unexpected Christmas day meal. For the desert, I went for its fruits and ice creams (I don't remember the Italian name and again it was great. A lot of fresh fruit in cubes and the most tasty vanilla ice cream I have had for a long time!An absolutely charming meal, served in a pleasant environment by a very attentive and welcoming staff. I think the owners should be given a particular applause, as we were strangers at night 1 and after night 2, we felt like friends. His understanding of the situation in which we are found and the way they treated us was impeccable and guarantees that we will return in future visits to Currie. We must say that it is not the cheapest restaurant in the area, but it has never been so true the old adage: you get what you pay . And even in this aspect, the owner adjusted the menu of 3 dishes from Christmas Eve to reflect the food we really had, saving us
We went for a dinner while we were in the area. It is easy to find on the Lanark road, but there is limited parking outside.A friendly and personal waiting owner. The food and drinks arrived quickly and the main dish was delicious, like desserts. The price was reasonable. We would return if we were in that area again.
The food in Al Borgo is magnificent, even our children for their meals, wolfed that says something! We had pasta, pizza, and salmon, and we all loved the food.Al Borgo is one of those places where the owners are in the first name with their customers, and it is assured that everyone is having a great time. They were phenomenal with our children. The restaurant's atmosphere is warm, welcoming and cheerful. We had been in Italy a week before, and the Borgo was as authentic as any restaurant we visited in Venice.
Started with Bruschetta it was very dry needed more garlic oil the veal schnitzel would have been good if the bread crumb coating had been crisp mines was soggy. Both of us found it quite disappointing.
