Old Colony Smokehouse - Edenton

I visited Old Colony for the first time and arrived right at opening. As someone who smokes various meats myself, I decided to try the brisket; if they can master that cut, I figured the rest would be impressive. I was not let down at all—I even bought a whole brisket to take home! I highly recommend this restaurant. The staff were just as outstanding as the food. Well done!

We dined there on August 5, 2023, around 1:30 PM. Wow, this is hands down the best BBQ I’ve ever tasted! We ordered the pork, ribs, green beans, and pickled cucumber salad, and everything was fantastic. I have to give a special mention to the pork, which had no fat at all—a huge plus for me! I can't wait to try all the other meats and sides, as it seems you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Although we live 2.5 hours away, we’ll definitely stop by every time we’re in the area. Thank you for such a delicious meal!

Old Colony Smokehouse truly excels at brisket; they could easily compete with some of the top names in Texas like Salt Lick, Riscky's, and Sonny Bryan's. It's seriously that impressive. Every side dish we tried was just as delicious, and the banana pudding dessert perfectly rounded off our exceptional meal. The staff is incredibly friendly and clearly well-versed in the different regional styles of American barbecue, including Carolina, Memphis, Kansas City, St. Louis, and Texas. They ensure that each style remains distinct, which is a rare level of attention to detail. In terms of parking, the lot is shared with a boat launch, so while there’s ample space, maneuvering around some of the trailers can be tricky. As for accessibility, the doors meet standard ADA dimensions and must be opened manually. The parking area consists of grass and gravel, which is level but may pose challenges for wheelchairs with smaller or narrow wheels.

We are from Texas and just went to a wedding in Elizabeth City, NC where Old Colony was the catering business. I haven't been inside the actual restaurant. With the exception of watching my good friend walk down the aisle with his daughter, the food was my most memorable experience at the wedding. Everything I ate, for it's category was a 10. In Texas we eat brisket at least twice a month and it was amazing. I heard many others rave about the mashed potatoes. Next time we visit our friends, I want to dine here personally. Probably the best catered food I have ever had, and I'm a little over 50! Well done!!

Great place service was excellent and the pork barbeque was wonderful....and don't forget the slaw?
