The Pier - Eastbourne

A fantastic little tea room on a pier friendly staff and lovely sandwiches! The only thing that let it down was a mismatched and tired feel, where the opportunity exists to be REALLY special (being a Victorian tea room on a pier was missed. Rather than the teas cups and plates you'd expect of a tea room, these were served in bog standard modern tat. However, we had the Afternoon teas and the food I cannot fault. I will be back again (hopefully on a sunnier day!

The team at this restaurant was extremely friendly and eager to help us, allowing us to use their facilities. Despite only having a small drink each, the cleanliness of the bar and the high quality of the beer were impressive. We did not eat there, hence the 4-star rating, but the overall atmosphere of the clean and peaceful pub on a Tuesday afternoon was lovely.

I visited The Shore in Seaford on Monday, May 17th and it is now open again. I was there for a meal and I want to commend all the staff for getting the pub ready for us. They have implemented all necessary security measures including having multiple rooms for easy social distancing. The menu and wine selection are both excellent. I look forward to visiting again in the future.

The location of the restaurant is beautiful, especially on a sunny Sunday afternoon with only two people in the entire pub. It was surprisingly quiet, but that didn't bother me. I ordered fish and chips, but was disappointed to find that the chips were thin peri fries, not what I expected based on the menu. The chips were also only half cooked. Despite this, the staff was friendly, so I would recommend it. My partner had the buffalo burger which was covered in buffalo sauce, making it difficult to even pick up.
