Big Jim's Seafood House - East York

Haven’t been there in about 2 years. My boss and I decided to get lunch from there today. It was horrible. My boss got cheesy fries that looked like they were heated up from days ago. The cheese was hard and so were the fries. She also got the seafood chowder. Just a couple pieces of shrimp, the broth looked like gelatin. Only carrots were in it. No potatoes or any other vegetables. I got Maryland crab soup. Tasted like something out of a can and way overly spiced with Old Bay that it practically burned my mouth. The only good thing was it had was a decent amount of crab. The waitress didn’t even give us any plastic ware or napkins to use. Luckily where we work I could run back and get those items It all was very disappointing. Will never go back especially considering what was paid for the food. What a shame for a restaurant that used to have Great Food.

Big Jim’s to me is a place you can always grab a beer or two but the crabs are off. Period.I’ve ordered crabs from here at times due to Paddy’s and Kelly’s being out of crabs and proximity to where I live.50-75% of that time crabs are watery. It’s probably that they are steaming dead crabs but the quality of what you are paying for is not there. Big Jim’s is a place to grab a couple of beers but stay away from the seafood and go to Kelly’s or Paddy’s for quality crabs. Thanks!

Absolutely wonderful! Most underated restaurant in York! Everything from drinks to food was made to perfection! The margarita was yummy! Draft was poured well. Food was perfect!! They have a great chef. Atmosphere is a bit bare but who cares with good company!

Crab soup is awesome. Hush puppies are very good too. Seafood is nicely done. I got the stuffed shrimp and it was fine, but came with a sauce. I would order without sauce next time. That is not typically something that is sauced. Service is sometimes a little touch and go as it seems they may have other responsibilities (like with the bar). All in all, will definitely return. We were there and the live music playing. It was certainly loud enough to listen to in the driveway behind the restaurant.

This place is Fantastic! Great food and a great time!!! Will go back again and again!
